Racefab's Motorsports Timeline

 

1970’s – 1980’s          Joel Jackson  raced various forms of motorsports, with numerous sanctioning bodies.  Resulting in several championships.

 

1984 – 1991        Joel & Marty relocated from Texas to California where Joel accepted a position with Chrysler at the Chrysler/Shelby Performance Center, working with Motorsports Legend Carroll Shelby in the capacity of race car designer, fabricator and crew chief.  Over the next 6 years he contributed the following:

                        These efforts resulted in numerous track record, race victories, two world championships and 5 land speed records.

  Joel Jackson awarded the prestigious TRW  I.M.S.A. “Mechanic of the Year” award for his work with Team Shelby

Spring 1991-1999        Carroll Shelby – Lemans winning road race car constructor becomes first customer for newly formed Racefab, Inc.  A partnership between Joel and Marty Jackson Shelby American awarded Racefab, Inc.  the contract to take over production of Shelby American’s Can-Am Spec Series, contract continues through today, even with the change of series owner.  Racefab was formed in Houston, Texas.  Marty Jackson became business manager, while Joel handled design and construction.  To complement our Shelby Can-Am cars Racefab introduced chassis for competition in:

                                      * Designed and Developed Competition Automobile for S.C.C.A. GT-1 & SCCA                                            Pro-Racing Trans-Am Series

                                      * Designed and Developed Competition Automobile for S.C.C. A. GT-3 Club                                              Racing Series

                                      * Designed & Developed C-Sports Racer for SCCA Competition

                                      * Designed & Developed D-Sports Racer for SCCA Competition

                                     * Won the National Championship in SCCA Club Racing every year

                                     *Won the National Championship in SCCA Pro-Racing every year

 

Along with these Racefab also provided chassis for these spec series:

            *   Design and developed ARCA Stock Car for Road Race Competition

                                               *  Designed and Constructed 343 Ferrari spec series for Ferrari of America                                                      Ferrari Challenge Series

                                              * Constructed 25 Voda-Com South African Lemans Series Road Race Vehicles

                                              *   Designed and Constructed 12 single seaters and 2 tandam seater C.A.R.T.                                                      Race Cars for Mario Andretti School of Racing (formerly  C.A.R.T. 1999           Racefab, Inc. buys Cherokee Cap Company’s facility and relocates it’s Motorsports fabrication to Rusk, Texas

 

 

2000           Racefab, Inc. forms Off-Road International, a group that works specifically on Off-Road projects.  Off-Road International gets off to a great start designing and fabricating a Ford Expedition for a factory supported team competing in Casey Folks, B.I.T.D. Series.  The first race for the new Expedition is the Nevada 2000 where over 200 Ford engineers watched a brand new, untested machine not only finish the event, but place 3rd in class against veteran desert racers, Rod Hall and Marc Stein.  Driver Chuck Elms (nephew of Mint 400 champion Glen Emory) says of his Off-Road International designed desert Expedition, “everything you did was perfect.”

                     *    962 Porsche Open Road Racer – This machine uses the body and aero package from the now outlawed eighties GTP car combined with a Racefab semi-monocoque chassis and 700 cubic inches of Chevy power

                     * Two tandem seat INDY cars for C.A.R.T. Driving 101 to complement their Racefab
                        constructed single seaters
